Celebrating a decade of work

Keeping this entry short and sweet, it’s been a year since I last wrote and I will try to get back into a routine with these entries.

This year, I celebrated 10 years in the workforce. Nobody knows that about me, but I was waiting for this moment since I first started working and did my first interview. I came out of the interview and thought to myself, I wonder how it feels when I tell people I’ve been working for a decade, what sort of experience I would have and how 10 years will actually make a difference. I did it. This year, I hit the first 10 year mark and can I be proud of myself? I want to be proud of myself for what I have achieved and where I am.
If I had the chance to talk to myself from 10 years ago, I would tell Dalia of 0 years’ experience to hold on, enjoy the ride and you will get to be proud of what you’ll become in 10 years.
I worked for 5 years on the agency side and decided to move to F&B marketing after. I found something that I truly like and enjoy doing although it’s a handful and quite hectic. And I cannot wait to see what I accomplish in the next ten years.

If you’re a young 20 year old who just started interviewing and is looking forward to work, I wish you the best of luck, you can do it 🙂 I hope I inspire young females out there and get them to think about this 10 year work progress plan.
The journey to get here wasn’t easy, working isn’t easy. And responsibilities keep getting bigger and bigger. You will meet so many people and work with so many different people, some you like and others you don’t, but stay focused and stay true to yourself. I know I enjoyed mentioning the growing number of years of work every time I was asked in an interview, it reminded me about the Dalia that started from 0 years’ experience and reached to where I am. Reflecting on this today brought a smile to my face. I deserve a cake for this anniversary and for ending the decade on this note!
Wishing you all a beautiful start to 2020.

Dee xx
