Year 2..Come through!

Year 2, we’re done!

It’s been a year. Turbulent, hard and emotion filled, but we pulled through.

Getting back to the routine of doing the late night, early morning shifts was something I didn’t enjoy but quite mastered (see what I did there?). I was lucky both semesters to get one my classes on a Saturday, at a decent hour Dubai time.

2 of the classes I was super worried about when I saw the curriculum for this master’s degree, were economics and finance.

I pulled all courage to do economics in my first semester, which in all honesty I have enjoyed. But finance, was a scary milestone. To someone who did a BA in mass communication and never crossed paths with finance before, I just didn’t know what to expect.

Fall 2023 wasn’t the easiest, finance on one side, the genocide happening in Gaza, and a full-time job, it was tricky to navigate. Like a lot of people around the world and particularly in the Middle East, and of Palestinian origin, it was and still is very hard to process everything.

I felt a sense of pride for fellow students in NYU who are on campus this last semester, as they stood up for Palestine, for Gaza and for the inhumane acts that have been carried out ever since last year, while it caused rightful media outbursts and people to know more about what’s happening in Palestine, this has been an ongoing hardship for Palestinians since 1948.

Yes, I’m a part time student, an online student at NYU, but I am proud of all the students for doing their stance and spreading the word.

1 more year until graduation, or just to ease myself into it, 2 more semesters to go!

Management of Tech, 4 semesters down, lots of online faces, connections and professors that I got introduced to and worked with, a program that I’m definitely enjoying. I feel it’s quite shaping itself as we go, with AI developments happening around the clock, monthly insights, adopting tech into different industries, information security upgrades and mandates, and understanding how the world has shifted and is shifting to embrace companies with tech routes, or develop tech branches to seize opportunities and become part of the race.

I look forward to year 3. Hoping there will be an end to this genocide soon.

Free Palestine, always.

Dee xx
